HomePod makes music and Apple Home feel effortless. Domovoy's assistant will run on a machine inside the home.
HomePod at its best
HomePod is first a premium speaker. It offers room-filling audio, stereo pairing, Spatial Audio, calls, and handoff from Apple devices. It also works as an Apple Home hub for scenes, HomeKit, and supported Matter accessories.
For a household already using iPhone, Apple TV, Apple Music, and Apple Home, that fit is hard to beat.
Privacy on Apple's terms
HomePod detects its wake phrase on the device. Once activated, it sends the request to Apple over an encrypted connection. Apple says Siri requests use a random identifier instead of the user's Apple Account.
Apple says Siri audio is stored only when a user opts in. Transcripts may be retained and a subset may be reviewed.
Control beneath the polish
Domovoy will keep core voice processing, household profiles, private memory, and home control on owner-controlled hardware. Personal-data connectors will use AI Passport as a visible route out of the house.
Policy code authenticates the caller and checks permission before a protected tool runs. Sensitive actions wait for confirmation. Completed actions leave a receipt.
HomePod is the stronger music system. Domovoy is for households that want private context and permission control on hardware they own.
